Same Sex and LGBTIQA+ Family Law Matters

Our family law team are experienced and well placed to assist you with all aspects of your family law matter and are allies of the LGBTIQA+ community, with some of our team members identifying as LGBTIQA+.

Subject to some minor exceptions, same sex and LGBTIQA+ financial and parenting matters are dealt with by the Federal Circuit and Family Courts of Australia in the same manner as for all other couples and families.

There are some exceptions that can arise in relation to complex parenting matters, including when issues of parentage, surrogacy, donor conception and co-parenting arrangements arise within LGBTIQA+ families, and in relation to special medical procedures.
