Amy is an industrial relations and employment lawyer who joined the Commercial Litigation team at TLFC in 2020. Prior to this Amy worked as a Senior Associate at a mid-tier law firm.
Amy La Verde has worked with a variety of clients, including employers and employees, on a wide range of employment matters. She advises employers on matters such as compliance with workplace legislation, privacy obligations, employment and contractor agreements, award and enterprise agreement interpretation and disputes, employee entitlements and commercial proceedings related to workplace law. In addition to this, Amy also drafts employment contracts and workplace policies and manuals, and assists employers to manage performance issues in the workplace, terminations and redundancies, as well as assisting in the conduct of investigations into claims of discrimination, harassment, and bullying.
Amy also has extensive experience in the litigation and dispute management of employment and safety matters. She acts on behalf of clients at mediation, conciliation and compulsory conferences to ensure early and commercial resolution of claims. She also regularly defends discrimination, sexual harassment, unfair dismissal, general protection, and bullying claims lodged at the Fair Work Commission, the VEOHRC, the AHREOC and all federal and Victorian courts and tribunals.
Amy La Verde has acted for clients across a broad range of sectors and industries including but not limited to aged care, hospitality, retail, property, construction, local councils, government entities, education providers, finance advisors, healthcare/pharmaceutical and not for profits. Clients value Amy’s prompt and straight forward response to matters.
Amy was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia in May 2015.
Amy enjoys spending quality time with her husband and daughters, travel, Pilates, attending the football to watch the Bombers and a nice drop of wine.
Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction.
